Der automatische Cleveland Flamm- und Brennpunktprüfer mit offenem Tiegel (COC) misst und beschreibt das Verhalten einer Probe, wenn sie Wärme einer Zündflamme unter kontrollierten Bedingungen ausgesetzt wird. Der Flammpunkt ist ein Maß für die Neigung zur Bildung einer entflammbaren Mischung mit Luft, wogegen der Brennpunkt die Neigung zur anhaltenden Verbrennung angibt. Der CLA 5 ist für Flamm- und Brennpunktbestimmungen von Schmierstoffen oder bituminösen Materialien geeignet.
