Der Wassermelder liegt mit seinem Eigengewicht auf 4 Kunststofffüßen. Die Sensoren an der Unterseite sind ca. 0,5mm höher. Eine Untergrundbetauung wird nicht registriert. Für dauerhaften Unterwassereinsatz ist der SWM3 nicht geeignet (→ SWM5). Wenn der Sensor kein Wasser registriert, ist der Relaiskontakt geschlossen, die grüne LED zeigt den Betrieb an. Die rote LED zeigt Wasseralarm an. Bei Wassermeldung oder Netzausfall öffnet der Kontakt Klemme 3.4. Das Gerät darf nicht als sicherheitsrelevante Einrichtung verwendet werden.
